God’s Greatest Desire

Standard

I was reading a book about revival and came across these quotes that are worth thinking about. Prayerfully consider these gems of thought:

The Meaning Of The Harvest Principle

“The earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.” Mark 4: 28, 29 (NKJV)

“The principle of the ripening harvest suggests that Jesus will come when the seeds of righteousness are fully developed in the lives of His church and the seeds of wickedness are fully developed in the lives of those who reject His grace…God longs to develop a group of people at the end time who are passionate about knowing Him, absolutely convinced that His way is best, and consumed with sharing His love with others. They have been justified by His grace, sanctified through His grace, and are ready to be glorified because of His grace. Jesus is their Savior, their resurrected Lord, their living High Priest, and their long-awaited King.”

Quotes are from the book: “Revive Us Again”, by Mark A. Finley, pgs. 58-59.

Chew on these apples for a moment. God’s greatest desire is that His people show the character of His Son, Jesus to a lost and dying world. Consider this quote from a Christian of the past:

“Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of Himself in His church. When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own.”

Quote from “Christ’s Object Lessons”, by E. G. White.

Jesus is waiting with longing desire for His people to be more like Him. When His church fully reflects His image, then He will come back to take His children home. Heaven is a place where everyone shows the love and kindness of their King. Nothing bad will enter this pure holy atmosphere, which is why we so need to surrender ourselves to Jesus and let Him have His way with us. So when we ask God to revive us with the Holy Spirit, we are asking for more of Jesus in our hearts.

May we truly want to have the character of Christ dwell in us richly, and in all fullness!

This book is one of the best ones I have read on the power of prayer. The author takes the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14 and explains it in such a way that you will be motivated to seek true revival for yourself and for your church. Filled with Bible verses and inspiring quotations from Christians, this is the book that you will not want to put down!
